The DMC World DJ Comp is the biggest, most respected DJ Comp in the world, and has been been since DMC launched the DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS in 1985 when a young Londoner called Roger Johnson took the first title in London’s fantastic Hippodrome where DMC staged a DJ Convention.
It took America’s DJ Cheese in 1986 to bring the best out of the turntables by scratching his way to DMC’s first ever World Title. By the following year, turntable tricks started to establish themselves with the emergence of props, body tricks and a variety of scratching techniques, DJs scratched with bicycles and even kitchen sinks. And the venue that had never before featured a DJ let alone heard hip-hop riffs, the Royal Albert Hall rang to the mighty sound of scratching, yet to be called turntablism.
This year Showtime was proud to be an official sponsor of the prestigious event providing staging, decks and a complete Audio visual solution for the venue.

Showtime Productions were contracted to create a design for the Sydney Darling Harbour Foreshore’s celebration of the month of love. The final creation which was suspended under the Darling Harbour overpass was a whopping 4 mtr heart built in Eurotruss HD 34 trussing. The huge feature was illuminated with Chauvet Legend 230 beams and heap of happy tubes. The entire piece was operated via a Martin M1 controller. The heart was designed so it could be viewed from every angle within the Darling Harbour area and has become a commonly photographed feature for both local and international punters.
Director Asher Daoud and production manager Aldo Fabrizio of Showtime productions were contracted for the supply and installation of a temporary roof structure for Taronga Zoo’s New Years Eve festivities.
From this, Showtime alongside Showtools International confidently engaged Eurotruss to design and develop an adaptable roof that would cater for wide variety of event types and capacities whilst using existing Eurotruss HD34 stock. Showtime’s production manager, Aldo Fabrizio wrangled through extensive research and development with the Eurotruss team to ensure the design and manufacture of the structure met all relevant standards and specifications.
“We were jubilant with how quick and easy the structure was erected, it not only meets Australian standards it surpasses them. The ability to expand the stage in height, width and length makes it versatile and functional for almost any event size and/or type. The roof was a huge success with the promoter and punters,” commented Aldo on the ease of erection, structural integrity along with the overall design and look of the roof.

Sunday the 8th of September 2013 marked the second annual THE-LOWDOWN.com Presents: Showcased – Sydney. It was a day that automotive enthusiasts from across the east coast of Australia were looking forward to, with many travelling from interstate to attend. The Australian Technology Park provided the perfect backdrop for the team at showtime to work their magic and provide yet another high quality production.
The next generation of fashion designers, styling and fashion couture were on display again at the annual TAFE NSW Fashion show. Held at ATP, Showtime were at the forefront of designing an effective layout of the room to suit the organisers, designers, models and, most importantly, fashion scouters and crowd.
The 18m runway was well lit with 24 multipars as well as 16 Martin 101’s for effect, across 2 separate sections of flown truss at 18m length for each. Arian Yeganeh, Showtime’s Production Manager commented, “Considering this wasn’t one of the main bays at ATP, it was a little trickier to work with but having the right amount of planning we got it spot on with layout, rigging and equipment…The room looked great for all involved and overall it was a smooth operation from our end” The lighting was complemented by 8 x Nexo PS15’s for an even distributed sound across the space.
This highly charged show demanded a lighting rig and control to suit, with scenes themed to the event. Showtime turned to a range of Martins including Mac 101’s, 250 Entours and Mac 700’s all integrated with inhouse Mac 500’s and 600’s. Arian Yeganeh noted … “The range of movers allowed us to achieve some great looks and cues to accommodate what was happening on stage – the show was absolutely electric”
It was a star-studded affair at Richard Wilkins’ 25 Year Anniversary Fundraiser for Downs Syndrome at Fox Studios on June 16th 2012.

The coaches from The Voice — Seal, Delta Goodrem, Joel Madden and Keith Urban — were also there, and performed for the crowd on the night.
Showtime were proud to be associated with such a special event for such an amazing cause.

We are so happy” – said 6 x Gold Awarded Dj, Alex K.
The St George School of Fashion and Graphic Design held their annual Fashion Parade at the Australian Technology Park this year. The ever-growing event showcased the students’ work, giving the audience an insight into the State’s young and emerging designers.
Given the difficult rigging environment at ATP, long truss runs were required with a strong consideration for the load bearing aspect and restrictions that came with it. The solution was to utilise Eurotruss HD 34 given its overall strength in combination with the famous conical connection system that it is renowned for – the 22m spans along with cross sections required were easily achieved!
With a CPL of 1195kg at 5 meters and a deflection of 17mm three HD 34 trusses were used to support the LED screen.
The HD 34’s are now available for hire at Showtime.

At their best, Shihad were a brutal marriage of metallic swagger and bittersweet melodicism and in 2016 not much has changed!
This was clearly evident at both the Sydney and Melbourne legs of their tour, where many came to support their beloved Shihad and take part in what was to be a trip through the ages featuring music from 2005 right through to 2016..
